Dave Vial - District Administrator
Dave Vial began work in the public sector in 1985 and held a number of senior management positions with the City of Vancouver. In addition, he worked in the private sector for an energy company for several years where he was the Director of Administration.
Dave has a Masters Degree in Public Administration, the Associate Risk Manager (ARM) designation, and the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) designation. Dave has extensive experience and background in all facets of human resources, budget management, financial analysis, risk management, insurance, employee benefits, and collective bargaining.
Dave serves as the District Administrator where he oversees District operations, including all training center programs.
Dave Sauerbrey - Deputy District Administrator
Dave began his career as a Fie District 5 volunteer in 1979. Accepting a position as a career firefighter in 1981, Dave worked as a Firefighter/EMT until 1985 when he promoted to the position of Fire Inspector. He has been involved in fire prevention efforts ever since. Over the past 20 years, Dave has honed his skills including public relations, planning, teaching, and public speaking. A professional instructor since 1988, Dave has been the lead fire prevention instructor for Portland Community College the past 16 years.
At Clark County Fire District 5, he is responsible for providing high quality Safety & Prevention, inspection and information services to the community.
Riza Russum - Administrative Analyst
Riza previously was employed by the City of Vancouver Finance Department before accepting a position with Fire District 5 in July of 1998. She works on the District's budget and accounting functions.
Riza graduated from Assumption College in the Philippines, with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, Major in Management.
