Meet the Fire District 5 Commissioners
Mike Lyons, Chairman
Native to the Vancouver area, Mike Lyons is a retired Fire Captain from the Vancouver Fire Department and was previously employed by Fire District 5. During his career with the District he attended the University of Portland and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He has been a resident of Proebstel since 1981.
Roy Rhine
Roy Rhine has spent his lifetime in Clark County. He was raised at Five Corners in Orchards and attended Clark Community College. After completing an enlistment in the US Marine Corps, Roy returned to become a volunteer firefighter with Clark County Fire District 4 and later with Fire District 5 after the two districts merged. Roy eventually became the Volunteer Firefighter Coordinator. He continued his volunteer services after the merger between Fire District 5 and the City of Vancouver Fire Department. In 1988 he was selected as Firefighter of the year.
Roy and his wife Lisa have two teenage sons.
Ron Gibson
Ron currently works for the City of Vancouver as a financial analyst for the Vancouver Fire Department. This is Ron's second career. Ron worked as journeyman grocer with an independent grocery chain in Portland.
Ron holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Washington State University-Vancouver. Ron graduated magna cum laude majoring in accounting, with a minor in management information systems.
One of pioneering spirit, the Lee Family made its way to the northwest via the Oregon Trail in 1847, settling what is now Gales Creek, Oregon. Born in Portland, Ron spent his early childhood in Vernonia, Oregon. His family relocated to Vancouver Island, British Columbia in the early 1970s. Graduating high school in Canada, Ron briefly attended the University of Victoria. He returned to the Portland/Vancouver area in 1989 and has been a resident of Vancouver USA since 1993.
